I moved from Tucson to Page in April of 1997 to begin my career as a full time fishing guide on the Colorado river below Glen Canyon Dam in Marble Canyon. For several years, I was head guide at our shop and guided fly and spin fishing clients on the river at least 175 days per year. To date I have guided 2000+ days for 4100+ clients.
I started Lake Powell Outfitters Guide Service in May of 2003. I strive to provide the best fishing instruction and information to my clients while having a great time catching the various species offered in our beautiful lake. I still guide on the river and plan to fish if for fun frequently.
November 2007 marked a new chapter in my life in Page, AZ. I no longer guide full-time on the Colorado River. I now work for the Page Unified School District as head of the grounds department. I will however, continue to guide on Lake Powell and Lees Ferry whenever scheduling allows.
I am a native of Tucson. I cut my teeth trout fishing in the mountains north of the city at the age of 7. I started bass fishing when I was 20 and spent most days off from my job at a local tackle shop fishing for bass and crappie with conventional gear all around southern and central AZ. I started fishing club and team tournaments in 1990 as a non-boater. While fishing with a wide variety of anglers, you quickly pick up many different techniques. This helped me become a "well rounded" angler. I still employ almost every technique known on what is now my home water, Lake Powell.
I began fly fishing when I was 23 as a break from the tournament lifestyle. I love the artistry of the cast and presentation. I've fished in many western states while chasing trout with the fly rod. I don't get much time to just take off and go fish, but when I do I usually choose fly fishing for trout in small streams. They say you don't find trout in ugly places... that's certainly true.
I feel very fortunate to live, fish and guide in the most beautiful place in the world with my wife and our 3 girls, 4, 8 and 19 years old.
Tightlines,
Kevin Campbell
I have a 23 foot Fishmaster center console boat to provide comfort and convince for your Lake Powell fishing experience. Designed for saltwater, my boat seats up to 6 passengers, and has plenty of room to move around while fighting stripers, bass, walleye and panfish. It's equipped with late model fish finders, GPS, safety gear and marine band communications. Unique among other Lake Powell guide boats, mine is equipped with a wireless control electric trolling motor. This frees up the bow for anglers to fish while the captain is out of the way at the console. Don't settle for just an adequate vessel, rely on a truly well designed fishing machine.
